PIANO present at the ECAT Research Workshop 2025

This week, the European Centre for Algorithmic Transparency (ECAT) hosted a workshop focused on systemic risks on online platforms, in which a poster describing a few PIANO-supported studies on the Digital Services ACT (DSA) Transparency Database was presented.

Impact Recognition Award at ACM CSCW 2025

The PIANO-supported article titled “The DSA Transparency Database: Auditing Self-Reported Moderation Actions by Social Media” has won an Impact Recognition Award at the the 28th ACM Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (ACM CSCW 2025), the top conference in Social Computing, held this year in Bergen, Norway.

First COMPASS Workshop at ICSWM

Yesterday, thanks in part to the support of PIANO, the first international workshop on Computational Approaches to Content Moderation and Platform Governance (COMPASS) was held in conjunction with the 2025 International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media (ICWSM’25), which took place this year in Copenhagen, Denmark.

This week, one year after kicking off the project, the consortium held the PIANO mid-term meeting, a hybrid event at the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the National Research Council, in Pisa, Italy.

This morning, PIANO had its kick-off meeting in the premises of the project coordinator, the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the National Research Council, in Pisa, Italy. The project’s multidisciplinary consortium is also composed by the Department of Computer Science of the University of Pisa, and the Department of Humanities of the University of Foggia.
