This week, the European Centre for Algorithmic Transparency (ECAT) hosted a workshop focused on systemic risks on online platforms, in which a poster describing a few PIANO-supported studies on the Digital Services ACT (DSA) Transparency Database was presented.
The event —held in Seville, Spain— offered a chance for researchers to come together to learn from each other, exchange ideas and consider future collaborations. The focus was on topics related to systemic risks (as set out in Art. 34 of the DSA), particularly those relating to the mental and physical health of minors. Benedetta Tessa and Stefano Cresci (Principal Investigator of PIANO) presented a poster with an overview of a few studies concerning the DSA Transparency Database, with particular attention paid to the analysis of the 2024 European Parliamentary Elections and the overall sistemic risk of social media platforms around electoral processes.
